"CHANGE"

Change is what drives the world. But,this year has started off with lot of changes in people's attitude and beliefs. It all started when obamamania hit the world. His speech focused on "change".What exactly is this change everyone is hankering after?Does everything needs to change to get mankind towards the ultimate high?Lot of illusions were shattered and some new formed. Its still only nations and organisations which are changing. But common man is still hesitant at the door of change. Here i say nation and common man as different entities as common man is changing his beliefs towards factors affecting his external beliefs, but still needs to work changing his internal beliefs. But changing the beliefs of generations just like that is not something that will happen overnight. We need to get above nationality and religion to actually get some concrete changes. But still, i already see some potential changes in people's attitude.I was just chatting to an elderly lady.We got on to the topic on matrimony. She told one of her neighbour's son married a German girl.I waited for her to start the usual tirade of abuse the elderly are famous for.(i mean the right n wrong etc...).But i was pleasantly surprised that her exact quote was "all that matters is adjustment, frequency and love".To say the least i jumped and shook her hand. Then again there is people's perception of "USA the ultimate mecca of luxury".We all know its not as rosy as we think it is to live in US.But now people openly admit that its not as wonderful as they thought. They want to comeback to their motherland.Next is the effect of recession, people now think of careers beyond IT and medicine. My father told that he met a guy who was carrying a guitar. They started conversing and it came out that he is in bangalore to do 3 years diploma in music.I waited for my dad to point out the unsuitabilty of such degree. But,i was again surprised to hear that the kid has guts to do what his heart desires. Its wonderful to see the changes around me.Does change mean that we try everything with a different angle?Possibly no,as everything cannot be changed or done differently.Somethings are right and some wrong.Biggest change will be when common man will be able to differentiate between right and wrong. It will stop wars, terrorism, religious roits to name a few of them. How did i get on this topic? It all started with the changes that are happening at work.I had set myself rigidly on a certain career path, but seemed like management had different ideas.I am still wondering what did i do wrong?I didnot ofcourse lick boots. Is it so important?Mind you this was the third time this was happening to me.So,made me wonder where exactly i do wrong each time.I work with 100% dedication (no point being humble here)to the best of my ability and yet i end up nowhere! Is it time to change?Sometimes this much sought after change is not crystal clear.Changing is not as easy as we think, requires a lot of effort.I applaud people who can change or can identify the area of change.I sign of with "A leopard can't/doesn't change its spots" but i guess we can!To say the least i am demoralized ,depressed. But,somethings are not in our hands.......I almost start believing in luck..i must have been born unlucky. No,i dont really believe that !!But looking at the world with new prespective.

Boomarang?

Seems like life is like a boomarang. We keep getting stuck in same situation again and again. We try to avoid them and learn from them. But it would seem like they keep repeating,as we really dont have a clue to control them. These situations test our patience. So,what is the respite to
get over these situations?I remember a story where a boy kept slipping on the floor of his class everyday at the same spot.Someone then told him to study the floor and find why he keep slipping there everyday. He then found that the floor was slippery.Yeah a mudane story,i agree! But we need to study the patterns in life and find what exactly it is about us that triggers boomarang situations.Sometimes its to do with our habit of following patterns of others ,but they mightnot suit us as they suit others. So,next time you find yourself in the same rut, give yourself time to study why, before you start complaining.

Disillusioned ?

We all are contantly disillusioned in life at some point or the other. We try to keep our faith but its tested at times by constantly changing world.Sometimes we try to very hard to get somewhere and realise only by reaching there that it was all an illusion. Why am i getting into this?I have reached my endurance limit,i believed in something and now seems like i had put my faith wrongly in it.(lets get this straight its my job).I slogged like crazy and it got me nowhere.I see people who dont work/lie etc at this same point i am .Well, makes one wonder if it was worth it?You get a name ,fame but still that vital peace of mind is missing..Guess its time i join the bandwagon of reality.Lets see how we endure the change that everyone seems so hell bent on bringing.

Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining

Does this idiom fit todays world?I remember reading a story about this ,way back in school. This basically means never lose hope..Today world is heading towards a major crunch...with wars ,terrorism,recession..Such situations test patience and endurance of people facing these. But,does every cloud necessarily have a silver lining?Or are we being over optimistic?Does silver lining mean that we always should expect happy ending?Should we not be realistic and face our current situation with more realism?Probally olden days every cloud had a silver lining, but now world is full of clouds!Does Gandhi's philosophy of showing the other cheek still work?Or again dont we need to fight for whats's right?Oh,well..at the end of the day, optimism is the only tool to survive.Lets hope every cloud indeed has a silver lining.

Empathy!

I was just wondering what exactly this means?Just looked up on web and found this "Empathy is the 'capacity' to share and understand another's 'state of mind' or emotion" .Can we really understand anyone's state of mind?It basically means putting yourself in other persons shoes.I mean we are shocked by people's behaviour, but try and think what we would have done in the similar situation. If we come up with the same answer as the other person than our sympathy/admiration lies with that person.Else we shun that person away?Is it really the right attitude?I am always confused with these conflict of interests .It always goes without saying that we can never really truly empathaize. Its all is a myth,we might actually react as the other person in similar situation, but who knows our reaction is influenced by that other persons actions.I went to this soft skill session where we had an entire hour on this(whew..was long ago).Somehow the topic interested me,as i used to empathize with people subconsiously.(to be truthful, this was a new word in my dictionary). That day i started an experiment of empathizing with people in my day to day life.Found some interesting reaction differences/similarities.I dont mean we do this experiment in everyday life.Just that we can try and understand people by empathy.

Whew

Was in training this week..I was totally like "boink, zoink" .Training was pretty good, got some new technical stuff .I dont think in this era we will ever have enough to learn.Everyday something new comes up and you have to keep updating your skills.(tough task indeed..!!).But,i guess now the IT scene looks bad and all are gearing up to be updated technically.Offlate didnot hear of people having 5-6 job offers, quitting in 2 months of joining.Looks like we are back to 2001 era.Satyam was a shocker.Proves that nothing is as it looks. The IT boom has finally burst with a big bang. There seems to be no end to it.I was wondering what will happen to engineers produced every year in thousands of engg college in india?Future does look very bleak indeed, but we overcame y2k ..hope we overcome this too..

Anger management..

We all know what anger is, and we've all felt it: whether as a fleeting annoyance or as full-fledged rage. Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems—problems at work, in your personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life.
Even the most open-minded cool people get angry sometimes, when they are triggered with right stimulus. We all get angry at times, say things which we later regret. The instinctive, natural way to express anger is to respond aggressively. But anger to me only comes when i reach my threshhold or someone is being extremely unfair!I deal with it by breathing 10 times,or by keeping silence. It works most times, but this doesnot mean that we keep silence for unfair treatment. If thats the case then raise your voice irrespective of who it is against. It works most times, rational anger is good, irrational is not.Dealing with anger is very important.Sometimes apologizing for things said in anger is good.It rebuilds the damaged relationships.

Slumdog Millionare!

Awesome awesome!!A superb movie to the boot.Never seen such an interesting movie before. It makes you laugh and terrifies you at the sane time. Its a story of slum kid and his performance in a show similar to KBC.He goes on to win on the show.Let me not reveal how...that itself is an interesting story. The ending is superb, and the slum kid is shown as totally disinterested in money. Then ,why did he go on the show is a again a different angle. Its based on a novel,so has no useless bollywood crap jokes or stupied songs.
