Positivism?

Well..Now what is this you must be wondering what the heck is this word now?As per Wikipedia..

positivism, in philosophy, generally, any system that confines itself to the data of experience and excludes a prior or metaphysical speculations.

Now do we deal with data in real life or we speculate lot of things? Ofcourse Indian culture is all about speculation..After birth we speculate about the kids entire life by his date of birth! Can we really define someone and confine his/her life on date of birth? And then it continues we buy house and speculate about the angles and best way to build things. Then speculate about everyday with so called horoscopes? Then speculate married life with so called Kundali match!
So of these might or mightn't have any scientific evidence.I am nobody here to speculate or disabuse about the centuries old customs. But sometimes you wonder who must have started these? Who has such a mind to complicate life with these?I might even be wrong in associating positivism with these! But who cares !It's my blog...

Dilemma in Career

Sometimes we have long term goals, short term goals, personal goals..We are asked at work about our goals , we need to fill in every year the goals. When we look for life partner the personal goals come in the picture. So, you are constantly asked about the future which is unpredictable mostly.I am not telling having goals is not right, its the rigidness of goals which keeps an individual from enjoying life.
I personally did not ever map my career , neither did i go after money. I feel enjoying the work you do and giving it 100% ultimately lands you where you want to be.Comparing , cribbing , restlessness just makes you say , you dislike your job. If people really dislike their job, why not chuck it and do what they want to do?Again its not as easy as it sounds. But there are people who have the courage to do it.I know an IT veteran who quit her well paying job and started her own travel company! And kudos to her for that extra bit of courage. She did not ever think or map it out.
Again an interesting question we are asked is about choices within job. Sometimes unexpected choices come up.Should i change team? Move country? Move to management or continue technical? I also faced all these and my mantra is to think clearly about everything and its impact in overall scenario. Changing team wasn't adding anything to my role or job.Even earned credibility was being lost so chucked it. Moving countries wasn't a choice due to personal reasons, however lucrative.(Thou money is always there ,there are other factors besides that). Continuing technical is what i visualized myself doing for next years, but when an opportunity opened up.I again had a mental block, then i sat down and analyzed the problem. As it turned out most reasons were easily fixable.I moved to a new phase in my career ,its been by grace of god and my hardwork things have been good so far. But apathy is not good in life.We should constantly seek some change in life or career. I also realized the importance of team, its your team who makes you.So basically you need to be ready to defend them, motivate them, fight for them. Maybe i will look back someday on this post nostalgically.
