Delhi mania``

I had been busy with all the wedding hoopla and preparations and work load skyrocketing in Jan and Feb. Finally i felt a relief to packup and leave for Delhi on Feb 20 for the Feb 25 wedding, i know it was cutting it close, but i needed more time to unwind than the before time to pamper myself and all that.I had been on a roller coaster ride since my mom broke her wrist last November. And the wedding and post wedding and the travel back to Delhi was very hectic.
Finally i landed in the rented house which i insisted that my then fiance choose near a metro station. Now, i got the time to observe Delhi from a residents perspective, earlier i was just a tourist and had a blase attitude. Now, i guess i will be candid in my observation here.I might get used to the crowd here, but it needs some getting used to.I am just few days old here. The constant watch needed to safeguard your handbag. The earrings (if gold) snatching probability every second. The metro crowd where people talk so loudly that you know their life story in few minutes. The ladies coach where girls loudly talk on phone about boyfriends et all problems. In first look the crowd looks bright and colorful and quite stylish.I find myself comparing my time in Tokyo where i traveled by Metro, the crowd in Delhi is nowhere close to the stylish crowd of Tokyo, but i constantly find myself thinking how i now need to fit in with this crowd and need a new wardrobe. I might get a bit casual from my usual conservative style and try  new things. But i also need to dress so that i get taken seriously. I notice the flowery and fluffy style makes people to not take me seriously and treat me like a child.I did notice a slight improvement when i chose formals and greys and black! Now, that's another discussion.
Another strange habit i find people have is of checking others out, its not staring or leering. Its the furtive looking at others. Its not girls or guys stuff, but girls furtively looking at other girls(the dress, or face watever is the attraction). Its a bit uncomfortable when some random aunty keeps looking at me.I just keep thinking , hope she is not out to snatch my mangalsutra or is something stuck on my face.I just keep looking at the floor and want the metro to reach the destination.Funnily, its not offensive and most people seem to do it.I have seen my husband too doing the same! :D.Its a bit amusing and maybe i can do this in future to kill time in metro.I might get description of characters for my novel.I wonder what the office in Noida has in store for me. I signoff here now and come back with some more Delhi trivia.
