Switching off

Sometimes we need to just switch off from everyday life. For some its an escape by reading a book and for some its to travel far away places. For some its religious retreats. But, how often we truly switch off.We are constantly connected to the world and hardly ever truly switched off. Some of us even carry mobiles to wash rooms ;)
For me books had been a real escape and i just can't get enough of them.I am one of those high imagination people who just submerge in the story and imagine it all. Also sometimes travelling to far away places is a good break and switches you all from everyday worries.I think the amount of stress and tension people have these days ,its mandatory to take a break sometimes. It could in the form of doing nothing for a day.And i think its ok to acknowledge stress ,its not a sign of weakness. Also, cribbing about stress and problems won't solve them.Just take a break!I remember once i was so stressed in some past project that i had no time to take lunch breaks. Also, had some other things going on.I just breezed in my then managers cabin and declared that i am stressed and just need a break and i taking next two days off.He asked if i was sick or going on vacation.I said neither, that i will just sit at home and relax! And i think i got some added respect by stating the fact and it also reinforced that few people needed to be hired ;)
I think its sad to see some highly talented people committing suicide due to work related stress or some personal issues.I read about an Indian living abroad a dream life and just ended his life.Would a small switch off break helped him? Yes, it would have given him time to rethink his decision and get over the insane urge to kill himself! So, that brings in when do we know that its switch off time.Well, when we are stressed, cribbing about everything, totally negative and generally fed up.Working professional make weekends work of art and plan every minute detail of just not plan and just sleep or bum around. An ideal switch off time should be on weekend. But do we ever switch off nowadays? So, someday on a weekday take a planned leave and do something you love.

Feminism

This is a controversial topic which is making people talk and debate and protest and  write and  blog about it.It is there everywhere, and the new age women are pretty muddled about its real meaning. The meaning which i got from internet is "Feminism is a range of movements and ideologies that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve equal political, economic, cultural, personal, and social rights for women. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment."
Its one of those utterly topics where endless debates make round. And normal or i must say "common" everyday women struggle to find a real balance and seek to be considered equal to men.The many inevitable events in our life not withstanding. The breaks some women take to raise kids, or to various other reasons. We have to toil harder to prove our worth. There are ideal cases where hardwork only matters. In workplace too we apologize for things which probably our male colleagues think as nothing and never give a second thought. In the east when the maximum population is misogynist and have crimes like rape and violence , then feminism actually is a mockery. When the women struggle to get basic needs to be met and think nothing of misogynists and in turn become one, it will be really funny to discuss feminism.
Then there is the everyday struggle of maintaining the equality.I have personally never expected any male friend/relative to pay the bill just because he is a man.And i uphold this belief that true feminists are one who practice it in real life and not just talk about it.Remaining independent is something i feel is important to me and i continue to be one. Here i mean financial independence, independence of thought, able to express self. These everyday thing which are norm to us are something which most our countries population struggle to get a balance on.
I am neither a feminist or anti-feminist.I think all humans are equal and there is nothing like gender differences in ideal world.Women do like to get pampered and that's not an anti feminist behavior. We don't have to be trouser wearing chest beating feminist to be considered equal.Like the other day the husband and i were coming from office and we carried our respective back packs.Mine was heavier as it had laptop and his was lighter as there was no laptop. It was crazy hot day and crowded metro. We both were tired after a long day.I was quite tempted to swap the bags and was thinking why doesn't he offer to swap. Now, a true feminist will never think of swapping! I just thought if he wasn't here, would i not continue carrying mine. So, why take advantage of him just because he is there. So, unless i am about to faint i doubt if i will ask anyone to carry my burden. This doesn't make me feminist but just a logical person. This is just a minor example .I have seen girls behaving oddly in presence of men.Pretending to be empty headed and look to cute to be true by asking cute little questions (don't the men love them).Expect men to pick their bills.Make others make the major decisions!Gift them with things which can be photographed and uploaded to facebook .
Its a short life, we just have to live it to its full potential.Be it a feminist or ant-feminist.But, never as a misogynist.Keeping it simple and not too complex and not try to tag every event as pro-anti feminist is also a key. Some girls i know solely exist to always bad mouth the guys and prove that feminism is the real power on earth. Now, i think i am starting to ramble.Sigh! I don't think this post really makes sense, i was planning to write something and this really is haphazard.
