Do you remember your younger days when people constantly asked you "Beta, bade hokar
kya banoge" means what will you become when you grow up.I remember, i was very young
and people indulgently asking me this.I used to reply based on who was my impressive person
of the day, sometimes it was lorry driver, dentist, conductor, traffic police etc..And yes people indulgently used to pinch our cheeks when we replied. It was a way to make small talk to children, adult din't really know what to ask kids, this was their way of connecting to youngsters.
Fast forward 20 years and now its a million dollar question, i rarely get chance to pinch kids cheeks as they seem to have gotten smarter. Now you get cool replies like doctor, engineer, IAS ,CEO!! Its all to do will huge shift in connection between adults and children and the IQ of kids is way higher than 20 years ago.Is it really a good thing?I think the pressure and competitive world is not sparing the innocence of childhood.Children now study long hours, even try all extra curricular activities .So that they can try in "indian idol" "dance india dance".
My friend and I were reminiscing good old doordarshan days, the kite flying , train journey etc..We look at it with such fondness. What will gen y look at X-box and Chennai express? God forbid!
