The city !

Delhi is baffling, i plan to document my experiences in Delhi.I have never subscribed to being a north indian or a south indian, aren't you supposed to be just an Indian? I don't have typical North or South look, neither do i subscribe into friends by region or language.Anyways, my thought here will be my random thoughts, i don't plan to come out like a racist or bring out anyone's regionalism to fore. Its almost over a month since i have lived in Delhi.I have joined the Noida office here.I have never really worked from anywhere in India apart from Bangalore.I did visit Noida office and usually had a bunch of friends or old teammates. Now they have all flow away abroad or different companies. Its rare to find a familiar face who smiles back in this office. The neighboring bay in office is very noisy, most of the time they are discussing something random and a big disturbance to my calls/work.Well, once in a while is ok ,but constant noise does get to me.I find myself unable to mingle with them now as they waste a lot of time just screaming or gossiping.I do miss my office friends with whom i enjoyed a cup of coffee and some intellectual conversation in office breaks in Bangalore!A manager here offered an empty cabin if i needed it, i might take him up on it.
All this apart, since i observe and have a vivid imagination, i can survive long bouts of office boredom and metro travel.oh, i travel  to office by a human rickshaw till metro ,which i rarely took in my previous travels here as i feel uncomfortable seeing a human pulling it, now its a everyday thing.Someone said its better they do this than anything criminal, maybe he is right. Then a 10-15 minutes metro travel and then either a office shuttle if i am on time, else a auto rickshaw. Its tedious, but not that uncomfortable as it sounds.I do miss the Bangalore volvo rides, where i had space for my laptop bag as well.In the metro peak hours are crazy, the ladies compartment is so squeezed that the doors don't close sometimes.I sometimes just let metro go one or 2 times and muster courage to enter the third time(hence missed office shuttle).Once a well meaning middle aged lady pulled my hand and helped me in.Lol..like in the DDLJ scene where Shahrukh pull in Kajol! Obviously in a standing metro as it doesn't move until doors close.Else people will pop out from every door. The metro doors open "dayyen" "bayyen" in voice alerts. Its right and left in Hindi, initially i was confused, which door to move towards in a crowded metro! :D
In the weekends we went to select city walk, where i found many international brands cosmetic stores, and huge array of restaurants.I didnot buy anything as it was hugely crowded. There were 2 more malls adjacent to it.We even went to India gate, i had been there countless times in childhood, i have some fond memories of that place.Sadly, it was very dirty surrounding it due to people littering with paper plates and cups. The clean India movement seem to have had no impact here and i am amazed .Mr Modi needs to install a few more dustbins here, the dirt is due to no dustbins ,even if you want to not litter ,you have no choice as you can't keep a dripping tea cup in your pocket and end up throwing on the street.
Summer had started and its cool again ,owing to rainfall last week. Its a big relief to me as i can't imagine the extreme hot Delhi.Extreme summer is yet to start. But summer revealed that the Delhi girls were good at using makeup like concealers or foundation. As summer is or rather sun reveals it all, its a relief to see that up here people have same skin issues as South, just that in Bangalore we don't use makeup so much!LOL. i am not being condescending.
If i see someone speaking kannada somewhere,my hear goes pitter patter, makes me feel homesick.I guess the newness of it all is still getting me going.I seriously need some female friends in Delhi!
