Time out ..

I have been busy lately and there has not been time to put in my thoughts here. The year started with Rajasthan tour, then Feb was spent in attending cousin's wedding in Delhi.Phew!all in all an exhausting combination. Then at work i was quite busy with new project, tensed with upcoming presentations. Then i just realized that the to do list of my life is stuck in a rut.
Luckily my job doesn't keep me busy on weekends and i am managing to take some much needed leaves. But still unable to do anything useful. I need to plan/save for my world tour.Just checked that a 11 day European trip costs about 1 lakh!Anyways plan to save towards that.I haven't met my friends lately too, need to remedy that soon. Also need to join dance classes,i look pathetic while dancing in my cousins wedding video :)! Hope to join some classes soon. This concludes my ranting for today..cheerio

Rajasthan experience

I wanted to end 2009 with a difference.I wanted to not be at work and be slouching at my desk .My friends were all busy with their vacation plans,so i decided to take vacation with family. So i booked the tickets for train ,as flight tickets were too pricey for Jaipur and we had to get back from there to Kota again by 6 hours journey. We decided train was our best option.I always have aspirations that there are interesting people travelling along with me so that time passes on these journeys. But alas as we entered i saw that there were two elderly well dressed gentlemen(interesting has nothing to do with age, they were too grim faced to my liking) who had already occupied both the window seats and rest of the seat was occupied by our collective beddings courtesy Indian railways. After much pulling and pushing we adjusted our luggage.I found that looks can be deceiving ,the old gentlemen had great sense of humor. We stopped the guy from pantry asked him ,can we get masala tea?He said sometime back they served that in train but people always asked for complaint register that something was always not right. Now they serve plain tea made of water and people buy happily..He did it in bihari accent,we roared with laughter! We went to Kota, then Udaipur,Jodhpur,Jaipur and Mount Abu.I must say Rajasthan has a very rich cultural background! The food is awesome there...We missed out on Bikaner and Jaisalmer ,plan to cover that some other time. But everyone must plan to tour Rajasthan once, mind-blowing experience!

PS:Dont forget photo id proof, most hotels ask for these, else booking hotel is tough!

Regionalism?Racism?

We hear the story of racism everyday. We think, these think still happen? When we have already landed on moon and mars. How does where you were born or your skin color matter? But seems like some people who have nothing to do in life other than harbor such feelings. Raj thackeray is one such individual who is creating hatred within people of India.Since, when is Maharashtra not part of India and since when we have become people belonging to states and cities .When it happens in Australia ,we conduct speeches, national debates, protests. But,when our next door neighbour does it we just keep it to ourselves.I get cabs(aka tata indica) to go home.I am a social animal,so i know all about my cab drivers family ,
what i mean here is i talk to him as an equal.I eventold him once to start his own driving school.(Was practicing my preaching methodology).Other day lo beholdi was in for a shock when he commented to my other cabmate "people from outside are spoiling karnataka"and if they go this state will become so much better"
(i have no idea what prompted this).I got quite red in the face and told him then forget about development here. So,you never know who harbors regionalism and racial feelings.I dont mean we forget about freedom of speech, rather freedom of speech doesnot mean freedom to hurt others. It might sound quaint but,i was
shocked and hurt after hearing such comments from the cab driver. Now,i don't know how to treat him,so i just keep silent.
